Yangın (Fire) is the artist’s personal response to the forest fire that erupted on 26 July 2025 on the mountain behind her home. The sudden loss of a familiar landscape affected not only the local ecosystem but also the emotional atmosphere of the community. Rising temperatures, shifting air quality, and the collective sense of eco-anxiety form the backdrop of the work.
The animation conveys the emotional intensity of this experience through a sequence of symbolic images: a tree sprouting and burning in the palm of a hand, a figure watching the fire helplessly, a brief poem capturing the moment of fear, and finally a new tree growing on the human body. This cycle evokes both fragility and the possibility of renewal.
Yangın (Fire) offers a poetic meditation on the relationship between humans and nature, the emotional traces of destruction, and the ever-changing continuity of life.
